I feel like the people who are doing the devil's advocate "oh but if we leave Meta we're conceding to the white supremacists and we should stay and fight" nonsense is basically listening to the same folks who think that posting "Free Palestine" in every person's post about Judaism (especially if they're Jewish), turning their social media profile pics black, or putting a string of emojis in their names are acts of bravery and revolution. These are the same people who claimed they wouldn't vote for Harris because they didn't want to "support genocide" who had glazed looks in their eyes when I asked them flat out "What about the genocides happening HERE? What about THOSE?"
Their performative bullshit has never seemed sincere to me. It's like acts of protest are like pieces of flair to them, accessories to be worn cause they're cool and trendy. Meanwhile, they steamroll right over actually marginalized people in their own communities so they can pat themselves on the back after and feel like they did a thing.
They're also the same people who think that Trump is the cause and not the symptom of all of the hell that's broken loose. He's the Christian nationalists' Trojan horse and they literally worship him because he was able to put Christian nationalists into federal offices, including those in the SCOTUS and Oval Office. Both Pence and Vance are Christian nationalists. They are practically daring people to remove him from the equation so we can have a Christian nationalist as a president.
Trump's role is to destabilize the country and distract people with the absolutely wild choices he is making. The more we are destabilized, the better the chance that Christian nationalists can fill that vacuum.
And they've been playing the long game to accomplish this for decades. The 1970s, even. Google the Heritage Foundation and their links to all of this.
Also, back to social media. TikTok is only getting banned cause Zuck/Meta lobbied for it. They want to get rid of them as competition since all attempts to compete with them have failed and they are losing money to them. That's. It. This nation has been in the grips of plutocracy for some time and now it's about to tip over.
The only chance we've got imho is to make sure that the Christian nationalists and the billionaires/oligarchs do nothing but bicker and fight one another until they're in their own little civil war, and this way they're too distracted to do too much harm.
